A pattern and its flags, kept apart from any regular-expression object.

Criteria are serialised and sent to servers that are not this process, so
they carry the source text rather than a compiled [`RegExp`](https://developer.mozilla.org/en-US/docs/Web/JavaScript/Reference/Global_Objects/RegExp). Only multiline
and dot-all are offered: the others change meaning across engines.
